Omar Gutierrez comes to his position as Vice President of Restaurants (U.S.) with 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having run some of the most successful brands in the restaurant and nightlife sectors in the U.S. He has worked with the world’s best chefs and restaurateurs, managed world-class restaurants and operated one of the city’s largest food and beverage operations. As the VP of Restaurants for the U.S., he is currently responsible for overseeing the operations of the company’s restaurants in Miami, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Beverly Hills.
Prior to joining Hakkasan Group, Gutierrez started his career at the Rio Hotel and Casino where he oversaw food and beverage operations at the hotel’s Rio Secco, which ultimately led to his role as General Manager for Jean Louis Paladin’s Napa. Gutierrez was then asked to take over operations of The Voodoo Lounge and Restaurant – a multi-million dollar operation with live entertainment, an ultra- lounge and a fine-dining restaurant perched on the hotels 51st floor. All of this experience eventually led to Gutierrez taking the top GM spots at the House of Blues Foundation Room as well as Rick Moonen’s flagship restaurant RM Seafood. In 2007, he accepted the position of Director of Food and Beverage at Mandalay Bay where he handled the property’s bars, lounges, nightclubs, pool operations, banquets, in-room dining and quick service divisions.
Over the course of his tenure he opened new venues, re-positioned several outlets, and executed the food and beverage operations for the country’s biggest sporting events and concerts. This led to him taking on the position of Executive Director of Operations for Angel Management Group (AMG), where he managed hotel and casino relationships for food and beverage growth. Following his involvement with the launch of AMG and Hakkasan Group’s strategic opening of Hakkasan Las Vegas Restaurant and Nightclub in April 2013, it was Gutierrez that advanced the restaurant’s beverage and wine programs to leverage the highly-regarded modern Cantonese cuisine the global brand is known for.
